Sample November salary statement
Since some of the different terms and figures may not be familiar to everyone, we have made a sample salary statement as an explanation. In the text below, the numbers in brackets correspond to the same numbers on the sample salary statement.
End-of-year bonus in November
It was agreed in the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities 2023 – 2024 that from 2024 you will be paid your end-of-year bonus in the month of November instead of December. This means that the amount will be built up – once – over 11 months (January through November 2024). From 2025, you will receive the end-of-year bonus in November based on the regular build-up (12 months).
You receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% of your annual salary, which is a minimum of € 2,250 (based on a full-time appointment and having worked for a full year) (1). The end-of-year bonus is taxed with the special tax rate. The percentage is on the salary statement under ‘Special tax rate’ (2).
At the bottom of your monthly salary statement you can see the amount of your end-of-year bonus that you have accrued that month and the total amount up to then (3). For 2024 you will see this on your salary statements from January to November. Please note! This monthly amount may differ per month due to changes in your salary, such as periodic increases or CLA salary increases.
Individual Choices Model
Did you submit an Individual Choices Model application with the End-of-Year bonus (EoY) as a source? Then you will see each of these applications twice on your November salary statement.
First, the amount is deducted from your gross end-of-year bonus. This is shown on your salary statement as ‘Gr. Ded.’ or ‘Gr. Deduct’ (4). Next, taxes are calculated over the lowered gross amount. Finally, the Individual Choice Model application amount is added again, shown on the salary statement as ‘Net allow.’ or ‘Net all.’ (5).
From the descriptions on your salary statement you can tell which Individual Choice Model applications have been taken into account and for what amount:
Description on salary statement | Which costs are offset via the Choice Model |
---|---|
Gr. Deduct / Net allow. EoY Commuting | Commuting expenses |
Gr. Deduct / Net allow. EoY Fitness / EoY Fit WKR | Fitness membership |
Gr. Deduct / Net allow. EoY Labor Union | Labor union membership fees |
Gr. Deduct / Net allow. EoY Study Exp. | Study and education costs |
Gr. Deduct / Net allow. EoY Prof. Exp. | Professional expenses |
Gr. Deduct / Net allow. EoY Bicycle | Bicycle (including insurance) |
Gr. Deduct / Net allow. EoY Bicycle bat. | Bicycle battery |
Gr. Deduct / Net allow. EoY Bicycle main. | Bicycle maintenance |
Conversion of leave hours into extra income
Did you submit a request to convert supplementary leave into extra income in November? Then the amount you receive in exchange is on your November salary statement (6). Note that this is a gross amount, taxed with the special tax rate.
This month, no travel, homeworking or internet allowance
With the salary payment of November 22nd you will – as a one-off – receive no travel, homeworking or internet allowance. With the new mobility policy, you will receive these allowances with your salary payment in the following month. Please note! Only if you have entered your travel and home working days in Shuttel by November 30th at the latest, you will see the allowances on your salary statement of December.
Note that the allowances are based on your registration in the Shuttel app (if you commute by public transport this will be 100% reimbursed by using the Shuttel card).
You can find more information about the new mobility policy and what this means for the allowances on the webpage Frequently asked questions about allowances and expense claims.
