Rogier de Bruin new UFB director from 1 February

26 November 2024

Rogier de Bruin will be the new director of the University Services Department (UFB) as of 1 February. He has been deputy director of the department for ten years. He succeeds Monique Teufer who led the UFB since 2002 and will retire next year. The Executive Board is grateful to Monique for her dedication and commitment to the university as a whole and the UFB in particular.

‘Rogier will now continue his long career at Leiden University as UFB director’, said Martijn Ridderbos, Vice-Chairman of the Executive Board. ‘I know him as a connecting leader and have every confidence that with his knowledge and experience of the organisation, he and his teams will continue to achieve their ambition to keep providing a great service to students and staff. I wish Rogier all the best in his new role and am sorry that now I am leaving I will no longer be working with him.’

Rogier had the following to say, ‘As the management of UFB, we and all our managers and staff have spent recent years working to create a stable organisation and reliable service. In a period of growth and new tasks, the UFB has proven to be an agile organisation with a healthy ability to implement change. I want to hold on to this in the coming years. Leiden University faces important choices, financially, but also in seeking how best to operate together. That takes collaboration and connecting leadership. I am pleased to give that an extra boost as director as of February. I will continue to represent the interests of the UFB and our staff but will also look beyond our own walls for further collaboration with faculties and other expertise centres in our aim to provide the best possible support for our university’s research and teaching.’
