Four-digit phone numbers to be migrated to Teams
What’s going to happen?
The functionality of the landline telephones will be transferred to Teams. This process will happen in three stages:
- Step 1: On 3 December, the first group of 180 employees with four-digit phone numbers will be added in Teams. Everyone in this group will receive an email in advance that this is about to happen.
- Step 2: In Q1 of 2025, a second group of employees with four-digit numbers will be transferred to Teams.
- Step 3: Also in Q1 of 2025, anyone who does not yet have a four-digit number will be assigned one.
Why?
The university’s current switchboard is outdated and will not be replaced. The decision has been taken to transfer the functionality to Teams.
What will it look like?
After your number has been switched to or added in Teams, a keypad will appear in the ‘Calls’ tab. Under the keypad you will see your telephone number:
Good to know:
- You can use the keypad to make external calls through Teams. This works in a similar way to internal Teams calls.
- Numbers you have previously called will appear in your call history. You can save these numbers as contacts.
- You can record incoming calls in the same way as you would record a Teams call.
More information about this functionality and call forwarding will be sent out in a separate email.
