New Collective Labour Agreement 2024-2025 adopted
On 14 October, the bargaining parties adopted the new Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities (CAO-NU 2024-2025) based on the provisional collective agreement from June. These are the main changes:
- Salaries increased by 3.7% as of 1 September 2024 and will increase by a further 1.0% as of 1 January 2025;
- Staff with a full-time contract on 1 September will receive a one-off gross payment of € 300;
- Pay scales 1 to 7 (incl. SA and TOIO scales) will be adjusted to create progression in the points within a scale and a better spread between scales. This will be adjusted retroactively from 1 July 2024 and will be completed by 31 December 2024;
- Social safety and the staff workload are a particular focus. Leiden University already has a central social safety helpline and wants this to become a single point of contact for staff needing help. They will then be referred to the assistance or process they need. Also see our Social Safety pages.
- Union month has been extended from one to two months, now September and October. You will get a discount on your union membership if you join in these months.
The HR directorate is exploring the impact of these agreements on Leiden University. Please discuss any urgent questions with your manager or HR adviser.
