Why can’t we use private tools?
Before purchasing new tools Leiden University checks whether these will keep our research, personal and other data safe. Always check the tool picker to see if the tool you want is prescribed by the university.
Never use your own or free software for your work. The university is responsible for the information and personal data that it processes: this makes it important that this information is managed by the university itself. It is not clear what tools that are not managed by the university do with our data and who has access to it. And with free tools you often pay with the information that you enter.
