Appointment of new Dean at Leiden Law Academy
The Faculty Board is delighted to announce that Professor Egbert Koops has been appointed as the new Dean of Leiden Law Academy (formerly known as JPAO) where he will succeed Professor Jean-Pierre van der Rest.
Under the management of Jean-Pierre van der Rest, the focus up to now has been on stabilising and making improvements to the department. The arrival of the new Dean Egbert Koops signals a new phase for Leiden Law Academy. The focus now will be more on improving visibility, building on collaborations and further extending Leiden Law Academy’s links within the KOG and beyond, particularly across the broader region of Leiden and The Hague. By timely identifying opportunities in new markets and developing innovative educational initiatives, we aim to further strengthen the position of Leiden Law Academy.
Over the past two years, Leiden Law Academy has embarked on a new course with the formation of an entirely new team. This has laid a solid foundation and the department is financially sound and well run. The event managers are also happy to relieve the faculty institutes of the work involved in the organisation of conferences and events.
In this way, we are working towards a faculty that considers Lifelong Learning (LLO) to be a valuable and long-term aspect of its social responsibility. Together, we are building the future of postgraduate education!
The Faculty Board thanks Professor Jean-Pierre van der Rest for all his efforts and wishes Professor Egbert Koops every success in his new role as Dean of Leiden Law Academy.
On behalf of the Faculty Board,
Suzan Stoter, Dean
Jan Crijns, Vice Dean
Gertjan Boshuizen, Director of Operational Management
