Leiden University Global Fund to open first seed funding call on 1 September

1 September 2024

Do you work with partner universities in Africa, Asia or Latin America and would you like to build on these relationships? See whether your activities qualify for seed funding from the Leiden University Global Fund (LUGF). The call for proposals will be open from 1 September to 31 October.

Apply

LUGF offers up to 15,000 euros of seed funding for teaching, research and outreach projects with selected academic partners in Africa, Latin America and North and Southeast Asia. There are certain conditions you must meet to be eligible. If you do meet these conditions, use the form on the same webpage to apply.

About the LUGF

The LUGF was established to support the university’s ambition to forge and maintain valuable international partnerships in order to grow and make a global impact. This could mean innovative teaching projects and research activities with local outreach programmes. Or giving students and staff the opportunity to hone their knowledge in an international setting.

Annual seed fund

One of the LUGF’s crown jewels is its annual seed fund for regional collaboration. Small grants (up to 15,000 euros) encourage joint activities with selected partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America. There is a lot of potential for growth in these regions, and by collaborating intensively with academic and other institutions in the Global South we can take steps towards a better world.
