The pilot project What's Next will end on 31 July 2024. This extracurricular subject with the scope to prepare students for the labour market, was offered to both bachelor and master students as from 1 February 2023, and had an intended duration until 1 February 2025. After the first semester and again in February 2024, the pilot was evaluated. The outcome of the evaluation is that the pilot will be terminated early.

Evaluation results

The evaluation showed, among other things, that each semester too few students registered for the course, despite various efforts to promote What's Next to students. In addition, practical considerations played a role, such as scheduling challenges and changes in the staffing of the course. Finally, the pilot did not lead to the intended sustainable inclusion of the course in the curricula of the participating programmes, which was supposed to make the course future-proof.

Preparation for the labour market remains an issue that deserves attention within our faculty. Programmes are being stimulated to offer opportunities within the curriculum to prepare our students for a career after their studies.
