Frequently asked questions about the migration to Windows 11

18 July 2024

From Monday 29 July onward, the ISSC will migrate all laptops and desktops to Windows 11 for the Faculty of Humanities. You have received an email about this from IFZ. Below we have gathered some frequently asked questions about the migration to Windows 11.

Mac

Should my iMac/Macbook be migrated as wll?

No, the migration is for Windows systems only.

Laptop

The migration team will be here from 31 July, but I will go on holiday the week before that. Can I hand in my laptop somewhere before that?

Yes, you can hand in your laptop to Lynn de Frank of IFZ (Herta Mohr, room 2.34) or leave it with your secretary

Can my laptop also be migrated after the busy first weeks of September?

Yes, you may then hand in your laptop at another location, where the migration team will be working at that time.

I will be handing in my laptop, but if I get back from my holiday the migration team will already be gone. Can I collect my laptop somewhere else in that case?

If you inform us about this when handing in your laptop, Lynn de Frank of IFZ will collect your laptop from the migration team and you will be able to get your laptop back from IFZ after your holiday.

Is it possible to leave my laptop with the migration team during the entirity of my holiday?

Of course, the laptops will be kept safe behind lock and key.
