Once again, Erik Kien and Rob Hogeboom are organising a European Championship prediction pool for staff at Leiden Law School. You can download the conditions and participation form at the bottom of this page.
COMPETITION RULES
General
Anyone who works in or around the KOG Building can participate in the pool.
The participation fee is €5 per person, payable when you submit the participation form. (If you don’t pay the €5, you can’t participate).
Hand in your participation form to Erik Kien (B4.12) or Rob Hogeboom (C0.29).
Form submission deadline: Friday 14 June at 12.00
First round
Predict the result for each match. For each correctly predicted result, you get 3 points.
Predict the pool for each match. For each correctly predicted pool, you get 1 point. (1 = first team wins, 2 = second team wins, 3 = draw)
Your predictions for the result and pool do NOT have to match!
Second round up to final
Indicate which countries you think will play in the second round and beyond. You can select these countries at random.
The number 1 and 2 from each pool and the best four number 3s qualify for round 2. Each time you correctly predict a country in the second round, you get 5 points; in the quarter-finals, you get 7 points; in the semi-finals, you get 10 points; in the final, you get 15 points; for European champion, you get 20 points.
Bonus questions
Predict the top scorer of the whole tournament. If you predict this correctly, you get 7 points.
Predict how many goals the ultimate European champion will score. If you predict this correctly, you get 3 points.
Predict how many goals will be scored throughout the whole tournament. If you predict this correctly, you get 3 points.
Prize money
1st prize: 30% of the pot
2nd prize: 25% of the pot
3rd prize: 20% of the pot
4th prize: 15% of the pot
5th prize: 10% of the pot
Consolation prize: for the lowest-scoring participant in the final ranking
In the event of a tie, 1st prize goes to the participant with the closest prediction of the number of goals scored throughout the whole tournament. If this also results in a tie, 1st prize will then go to the participant with the closest prediction of the number of goals scored by the European champion. And if that results in a tie as well, the prize money will be split.
The organisers will make the final decision on any eventualities not covered by the above information.
