Call for Papers: Oriental Numismatic Society Youth Conference
The Oriental Numismatic Society invites undergraduate and master's students in history and archaeology to submit proposals for the upcoming Youth Conference on Numismatics. This conference aims to provide a platform for emerging scholars to showcase their research, exchange ideas, and engage with the vibrant community of numismatists. The conference is also being held in conjunction with the Annual ONS Meeting held on the 14th of September at the Van Steenis Building.

Submission Deadline: 1 July 2024
Submission Guidelines:
- Papers should be related to numismatics, focusing on the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
- Open to undergraduate and master's students in history, archaeology and related fields.
- Abstracts (max. 300 words) should include the research question, methodology, and expected outcomes.
Submissions must be sent to j.m.ouellet@arch.leidenuniv.nl by the deadline.
Conference Topics:
Accepted speakers will be given 10-15 minutes that cover a broad spectrum of topics within Oriental numismatics, including but not limited to:
- Historical Significance of Coins from the Middle East, Africa, and Asia
- Archaeological Insights from Numismatic Discoveries
- Economic and Trade Aspects in Numismatics
- Cultural and Symbolic Meanings in Oriental Coinage
- Technological Advancements in Oriental Minting
Speakers will then be given feedback by a selection of well-known numismatists afterwards.
