Science communication training: get more from your research
Use the media and social media to reach the general public and raise your academic profile. In 2024, researchers at Leiden Law School can take part in two great training courses organised by HRM Learning & Development with various start dates.
PhD candidates
In the training course Academic outreach: an introduction to sharing your research via social and conventional media, you will learn how to engage the general public through your research. Engaging the general public is not only fun – it can also enhance your academic profile. In this workshop, you will identify the most engaging parts of your research and discover how to use a variety of media channels to share your research.
This is a six-hour online training course given in English. The couse is also open to staff from other faculties.
Postdoctoral researchers, assistant professors, associate professors and professors
In the workshop IMPACT with science communication, you will learn how to effectively promote your research. All aspects of science communication are covered as well as how they can contribute to your impact as a scientist. Whether it's writing a paper, giving a presentation, creating an infographic, being visible on social media or appearing on a television show. By the end of this workshop, you will be able to reflect on the connection between your research output and changing society.
This is a one-day in-person training course given in English. The workshop is also open to staff from other faculties.
Note: Professors are welcome to take part, even though they are not specifically mentioned in the target groups of these training courses.
