Trade Union Month: join now at a discount
Union membership is important. The unions reach the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) on your behalf. The more members, the stronger the unions are in the negotiations for better terms and conditions of employment. And unions can offer advice or legal support in difficult situations, for instance a conflict with your manager or employer.
In the latest CAO-NU, the employers have agreed with the unions that from now on the month of September is Trade Union Month. This is linked to a great discount. If you join a union in September, your employer will pay half of your dues (100 euros maximum) for the first year.
So take a look at the websites of the three unions that are active at Leiden University – AOb, FNV and CNV – and join one this month.
