Do you have an idea for a research project that promotes open science? Proposals can be submitted to the second round of NWO’s Open Science Fund until 26 September.

This round is for project proposals aimed at the further development of open science in fields or disciplines where this is not yet the norm, or for projects that promote open science in a large group or community. Project proposals that promote collaboration between different organisations and disciplines, and between academic and support staff, are also welcome.

The Open Science Fund is open to researchers from all academic fields. Researchers are encouraged to submit proposals together with other disciplines and support services, such as the Centre for Digital Scholarship (CDS) or the Citizen Science lab. Experts work here to support researchers in the areas of Open Access, FAIR research data management and software (CDS) and Citizen Science.

Deadline for submitting proposals

In this round, 3 million euros are available for projects up to a maximum of 50,000 euros. The sum will be divided equally between two packages of applications. Thirty projects were already selected for the first package earlier this year. The deadline for the second package is 26 September, 14.00 hrs.

Previous results

Six Leiden applications (or co-applications) were accepted in the first round, including the Journal Observatory. A total of 26 applications were honoured.  As more funding is available in the second round, even more applications may be honoured in this call. Seven applicants from Leiden were accepted in package 1 of the second round.
