New exam location with new possibilities
FGGA will be leaving the Opera for organising written exams (regrettable for some colleagues and a relief for others) and will move to De Broodfabriek in Rijswijk.
The main reason is the possibility of taking digital tests on site. A large number of FGGA lecturers already work with the ANS testing programme. Up until now taking digital exams required working with the so-called 'paper to scan' logistics: first the exam is printed, the students makes the exam and the exam is scanned, uploaded and linked. These steps are no longer necessary. Students take the exam on their own laptop and the lecturer can immediately start reviewing: Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).
Pilots have already been done last year at Stichthage and in Wijnhaven by FGGA, and experiments with BYOD are also ongoing at other faculties. On the whole the results are positive. For example, there are various ways of shielding off the test environment so that students cannot visit other websites. Shielding off the location is also important. Of course, the organisation also takes measures in case something goes wrong with a student: there are spare chromebooks, powerbanks, etc. In addition, a spare stack of paper exams will be ready at the first exams. The FGGA Faculty Board strongly recommends BYOD as the preferred option for examinations in De Broodfabriek.
The Future Learning Office (FLO) is ready to support faculty members in designing and creating a digital test in Ans. The FLO Team page provides more information, manuals, etc. Please be sure to ask FLO for access to this information. The OSC organizes the logistics and implementation at De Broodfabriek. You can always contact them for questions.
Lecturers (and students) who have written exams scheduled at De Broodfabriek will still be notified separately.
