Publishing Open Access at IOP without additional costs
Leiden University and IOP Science have reached an agreement for publishing Open Access in a selection of society journals, magazines and proceedings up to and including 2025.
As of this year, corresponding authors from Leiden University do not have to pay to make their articles Open Access when published by the Institute of Physics (IOP) Science in a selection of journals outlined in the lists A, B or D as defined on the Institute of Physics Publishing website.
To use the new deal, corresponding authors must provide clear indication of their Leiden affiliation in the submission system, ScholarOne, by using the ‘autofill’ function for the name of their institution. IOP provides a clear a step by step instruction in ‘A guide to submitting under a transformative agreement’.
Leiden Universiteit has a long shared history with IOP, an institute that is home to a not-for-profit publisher that has served the entire physics community for over 14o years. IOP keeps prices low, spreads costs for other publishers in physics or astronomy, and invests, among other things, in materials for teachers and in career advice in the area of physics. IOP is the publisher of some important titles such as Journal of Physics, Nanotechnology and Environmental Research Communications.
You can find the list of journals to which the deal applies in the Journal Browser.
