There was a fire in the boiler house at the Leiden Bio Science Park (LBSP) on Tuesday, 23 May 2023. The fire on cables shut down the power supply to a large number of university buildings on the site. These buildings were then evacuated as the power cut prevented safe working and studying. 

Meanwhile, the fire has been extinguished and fortunately no personal accidents have occurred. Work is in progress to restore the power supply. We hope this work can be completed overnight and the buildings can reopen tomorrow, but unfortunately this cannot be guaranteed.

If you are dependent on being in the building for work tomorrow, keep an eye on your email. We hope to have more information again around 19:00 (23 May 2023). In the meantime, it seems wise to work from home at least tomorrow morning (Wednesday 24 May 2023) if you can.
