Calling all researchers: Seize interdisciplinary opportunities on Wednesday 17 May
Contacts with other faculties, new research ideas, cross-disciplinary teaching: these are just some of the chances that the Leiden Interdisciplinary Programmes offer. Researchers from Leiden can become personally acquainted with all these programmes on Wednesday 17 May.
Research combining AI and Islam or a cross-disciplinary minor about violence: interdisciplinary collaboration at Leiden University has already led to fantastic new teaching and research. This is one of the aims of the nine Interdisciplinary Programmes that were launched in 2020. They consider societal challenges (such as social resilience, heritage management, the liveable planet, migration and the impact of AI) from an interdisciplinary perspective. This provides opportunities galore for Leiden researchers, but many are not aware that these programmes even exist.
The afternoon of Wednesday 17 May is the chance to change this. The nine Interdisciplinary Programmes will be introducing themselves to all researchers from Leiden University at the ‘Interdisciplinary collaboration in Leiden: an introduction to the interdisciplinary research programmes’ event (in English). There will also be a market where you can get to know representatives from all the programmes.
In the plenary session we will consider the current status of interdisciplinary collaboration at the University. This topic already resulted in fruitful discussion at an internal event, where one of the suggestions made was to get rid of all the faculties.
