As a general trend students are increasingly using their own laptops and tablets. As a faculty we want to keep up with this trend by facilitating the use of own devices by the academic year 2023-2024. This will eliminate dependency on the computer rooms, and students can work with the applications lecturers are using in their courses and practical classes any time, any place.

Do you work with applications to support education? Then read on, because we need your help!
 

Establishing a shared overview of applications

To get a clear sight on which applications are used in the educational programmes, and in which courses, an inventory list has been put together. We would like to ask you to take some time to look at the online list, which can be opened by this link, and to add any information that is relevant to you. In case you notice that a colleague has already added information relevant to you, you won’t have to do anything, except for adding your name with the information concerned.

Some accompanying remarks for inspection and completion of the online list:

• The list with applications is based on what is installed on the PCs of the computer rooms.
• Don’t be put off by the length of the list; just search with Ctrl-F for the applications relevant to you and add information only for those applications.
• If certain applications are missing in the list, please add them.
• The spreadsheet contains four rows per application. On each row the information concerning a specific educational or user context can be added. If more than four rows are required, you may add extra rows yourself.
• The focus lies on applications used by students in an educational context. Information related to a research context can, however, be of interest as well. This information can be added using the rows for the application.
• Together with the educational programmes the necessity and financial implications will be reviewed; in this phase no guarantee can be given that all applications can be purchased.

We kindly ask you to  add your information to the list before 15 February 2023.

Follow up

For further coordination and processing of the collected information, in order to put together a portfolio of suitable applications, contacts are currently being appointed within the various educational programmes.
