Language policy: support and resources for learning Dutch
Dear colleague,
As you may know, on 1 January 2020, a university language policy guideline was implemented. The policy can be consulted on this page: Language policy.
The language of administration and co-participation within our university is Dutch, therefore we believe it is important that all staff members with an indefinite employment contract and those who have the prospect of a permanent position, are proficient in the Dutch language on at least B1 level (CEFR). This requirement also applies to staff members who are up for a promotion to another position.
We request staff members who do not yet have a sufficient command of the Dutch language to try to improve this skill. Your institute or department will support you in this and will have time and resources available to achieve this goal.
At the Academic Language Centre, you can take a language test to determine your level. The Academic Language Centre also offers advice on possible courses to take.
If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor or the management team of your institute.
On behalf of the Faculty Board,
Drs. Ed van den Berg MBA
