The Department of Civil Law teaches and conducts research in the field of civil law. It is responsible for the master’s degree programme Civiel Recht (Civil Law LL.M.) which attracts many students each year from Leiden and elsewhere.

Civil Law is a specialisation of the master’s programme Rechtsgeleerdheid (Law) at the renowned Leiden Law School of Leiden University.

The Hazelhoff Centre for Financial Law offers the Dutch master Financial Law and the Advanced Master Law & Finance. Furthermore, they provide a course within the bachelor International Business Law and offer a wide variety of postgraduate education.
